Death of a soldier.
This story took place when we, 14plt of D.Company 1st Northampton`s Reg, were stationed at Mukarious Camp, we were sent about 8 miles north where a Royal Engineer an N.C.O.was killed and another one was wounded when they were traveling in a 3 ton Bedford lorry to the place where they were making new roads. We did our best but we could not find the killers, after a few days we returned back to Mukarious Camp.
The Adens Veterans Association have identified the soldier concerned, L/cpl J H Parkinton R E killed 29/10/1959.
He is buried in Grave K86 Maala Cemetery.

This photo was taken some time after we arrived at the area, where the Royal Engineer was killed. From left, sorry I do not remember his name but I remember him very well, then Brian Gruby (Shorty), then Sammy Winters, then Nev Hancy (Frank).
Nev Hancy (Frank) having a break eating hard biscuits ( just like dog biscuits) and I think it`s tinned cheese.
John Layton doing the same, eating hard biscuits ( just like dog biscuits).
This is in the area again where the Royal Engineer was killed.
