Smiff
1953, Northamptonshire Regiment Hong Kong, C/O's inspection. Support Company had three Smiths and if asked their name, it was usual for them to call out Smith 6504 or whatever their last four numbers are. The C/O stopped by a very short soldier next to me and asked his name, -The reply was - 'Smiff 7403 with 2 ff's' Sir.
