Comments	Was posted as a Wireless Operator to the No 1 Met Unit ( No1 SOC) (MKS) near El Firdan in November 1951. The parent unit was RAF Ismailia where we were board and fed at the tented site the far side of the airfield. Was posted from there in Nov 1952 to AHQ Iraq (Habbaniya)(DY2V-TJ5M) for about three months before being posted to RAF Mauripur ( Karachi) (ARX5-FS2F) until July 1953. Posted back to the UK to a place called Kelvedon Hatch (Epping Forest), then Trimley Heath (Suffolk). Further postings to MHQ Chatham, Wythall (Birmingham), RAF Pergamos(Cyprus), RAF Gatow (Berlin), last posting was RAF Digby Lincoln. Completed my 22 years in January 1974 and demobbed from RAF Digby as a Chief Tech.

Suffered severe electric shock from power stn, given artificial respiration by (?)a sgt Barden (REME) but pronounced doa on arrival at BMH, obviously resuscitated, hence details, eager to contact Sgt Barden to thank him for his help, have tried reme records & war office many years ago but to no avail, neither are willing to release details, can anyone assist? SIB became involved with the above and tried to charge me with attempted suicide, typical army cover up! Returned UK April 55, Group 53/08.

Comments	I was one of the first National Service 104 Group and am now 80. C\|SDI\|C is the camp where the SAS was formed, I was there in 1948 for six months and then sent on detachment to Salonika Greece where were on active service due to the civil war. British Troops Greece seem to be forgotten although while I was there a half brigade was in the north and the other half in the south. I believe that the early NS men were called up under the 1939 act and should be treated as all personnel called up under this act.

Comments	Yes to a medal presumably if served while the action took place, which eliminates me. Of interest is this. I enlisted in the Army Apprentices Boys (Chepstow). 1946. A long story, which is irrelevant here. (Seriously ill and medically discharged). A medal called the War Medal was issued to anyone, repeat anyone, who was in uniform for six months during the war, a Geordie, with great humour, got one and his qualification was to have joined in 1944, at Chepstow. The British Army didn't even recognize boy service as actual service in the Colours at the time. I hope this is factual. I arrived at Ferry Point November 1950, found out I could claim time off National Service for time served. Left on the Empress of Australia, June 1951. Did see the Sinai Desert on 'Exercise Sandgrouse,' March 1951. Yes, seen through rose coloured glasses now, glad I did.

Comments	Felt myself lucky in that I had an interesting job which made my 2 1/2 years pass quickly (didn't bother with UK leave). Missed comradeship after demob. R.A.F. tried to demob a number of us 2 months early - 3 months total to serve = 2 months disembarkation and accrued annual leave + 28 days demob - tried to kick us out with 28 days demob leave. Huh!
