Comments	With Ken Roberts, was HQ Company Clerk July 51 to July 52 when Battalion moved to Goslar, and I was there the sole HQ Coy Clerk until Mar 53. Who remembers CSM 'George' Scott (no relation, the open air cinema, the visit by the Paras after they were at Ismailia? Phew, didn’t our bogs tick, saluting Officers while they watered the Desert Rose.I would like to hear from anybody who was out there 1951 - 1953 and then in Goslar (Germany)1952 - 1953 with the Lincolns, ‘Posie’ Flowers, ‘Chirpy’ Day, Don Ling, Ken Roberts .....Scoffins etc Good Luck to all who were out there. We left four. I knew two. Trained with one at Warwick before going out on the 'Empire Test'. Comments	My father was stationed in 1951 at Suez - due to be there for 3 years to keep the Suez Canal intact for passage of ships. This was due to Egypt at the time being occupied by British Forces. My Mum sailed over to join him to be married, but due to a military coup whilst on ship, the brides to be were forced to stay on ship. Finally my Mum and 6 other brides she was married with, were allowed off ship for just 24 hours to be married under armed guard. My Father has never had any recognition for his time at the Suez and on behalf of him I am trying to fight for it

Comments	Time is a weird thing, sometimes the years 54 -56 seem like yesterday, other times...a dream. I have nothing but good memorys of those two years; swimming in the Great Bitter Lake, rolling down to Fayid on the back of my pal Joe's Indian m/bike and on my own side valve Norton watching the ships pass by in the Suez Canal, and what about the almost biblical scenes by the Sweet Water Canal, heat, blue skys, and listening to jazz on the shortwave radio ( Willis Conover, Voice of America ) on the night shift in my battery charging room kingdom on the edge of the runway...rose tinted glasses, perhaps, but I'm glad I was posted there for those two years and look back on it fondly.

Comments	We used to load the old Hasting bombers with the containers and jeeps for the parachute heavy drops. Wonder if anyone remembers the jeep we dropped over Jordan.The chute didn't open and the Para's were minus one jeep! I've never seen four wheels bounce so high! Comments	Visited this site a few times and thought I would give Maurice Scott (the lone Lincoln) some company. My service was similar to yours Maurice. Did basic training at Budbrooke (in S/Forresters.) My intake then went to Goslar. I was sent to Chichester on 6wks Clerks Course, (that was rough,) transferred to Lincolns and went in a draft of 26 on Empress of Australia, (sailed 6/9/51) to Egypt. Was in B Coy. until taking over Pay Clerks job in S Coy. on 21/2/52. Had this job in Goslar up to Demob. April 53.

Comments	We lost 2 members in a plane crash in Malta. They are buried at Imtafa and are L/Cpl R. Don & Marine D.E.Burtenshaw. I doubt they are on the official Count. If it was nothing out of the ordinary, why did they suddenly rush 3 Commando Brigade to Egypt? 42 Commando went from Tripoli on the 7th May & 45 from Malta by sea. 40 Commando flew on the 17th May 1953. We, 40 Commando, had only just got back from Malta from playing games with the Paras in Sinai. Surely it wasn't to take part in the Coronation parade in the Canal Zone?

Comments	Spent most of my time at Adabiya crewing harbour launches and fast launches. Most of the work was involved with ferrying people out to troop ships and general duty runs across to Suez. We were a small detachment of six with a corporal I.C. We lived in a dock shed on the quay and generally pigged it. The highlight of our existance was the occasional R and R runs at week ends.The boats were booked by parties of officers and their ladyfriends for a run out down Suez Bay for the day. They brought a picnic and ale. Our only perk was a couple of bottles of Stella! Incidently we never ever took any O.R.s on trips, typical army!

Comments	I first served in TEK with the Foresters, we manned the searchlight posts at weekly intervals, sharing the duties with other Regiments. Later the Foresters moved to Derna, Libya. I applied for an active service posting (I was a regular who enlisted in the Royal Warwicks) to get away from the Foresters and ended up being posted to the Garrison Defence Company in Te-el-Kebir. We patrolled the perimeter at night in Landrovers and during the daytime carried out various escort duties, such as fetching the wages from GHQ MELF in Fa'id and similar things. I would like to hear from anyone who might have known me during the period 1952-1954. I am after photos of TEK and Fayid, mine were unfortunately destroyed in a fire.

Comments	Mick Sweeney was my father, regretfully passed away in 1991. He built our house from canvas and wood so that my mother and I could join him, as we did not have enough points to get a married quarter. At Christmas, he managed to get hold of a 25lb turkey, way too big for our oven. he had it cooked at the sergeants mess, and collected it on his bike. Needless to say he was spotted from the air by the local shitehawks. We were watching him from the kitchen window as he rolled in the sand trying to protect the turkey. He threw the chipolatas as a decoy, and made it back, the turkey had a few peck holes and was covered in sand.

Comments	Served as a pilot on Vampires with 213 Sqn at Deversoir from March 1953 until it disbanded in September of 1954. Various detachments to Sharjah, Cyprus, Aman and Khartoum etc. Later served with the Nigerian Air Force in the Biafran conflict and the Sultan Of Omans Airforce during the Dhofar wars 1968-1973 stayed in Oman until 1982. These last two wars were not as an RAF pilot but as a contract man.
