Post Script

In 1982 Major General Jeremy Moore, the Commander Land Forces in the Falkland Islands campaign was awarded the KGB, Captain Jeremy Black, who commanded HMS Invincible  in that conflict was awarded the DSO and Chief Gunnery Instructor Buck Taylor was Mentioned in Despatches for his conduct of the air defence of HMS Avenger.

In 1977 while on an assignment in Malaysia, for the Ministry of Overseas Development, the Jimmy’s duties took him to Kota Kinabalu (formerly Jesselton) in Sabah.  He expressed interest in taking a few days break to visit Brunei but was “discretely advised”  that, due to sensitive political relationships in the region, it would be preferable to return straight to Kuala Lumpur.

Today package tours to Kuching are advertised for under £700. One can stay in a Holiday Inn and eat at Macdonalds. There is smog and litter, tame orang utan and a tourist style long house.
