National variants were produced, but the British type was granted to
all personnel of the British and Commonwealth Forces who had served at
least one full day in Korea or in support units in Japan. Moreover, as
those who served in Korea after the armistice in July 1953 were also entitled
to the UN medal. The award of the medal was extended to cover the period
up to July 27th, 1954. |

Obverse: The UN emblem. Reverse: Perfectly plain except for the inscription
"FOR SERVICE IN DEFENCE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CHARTER OF THE UNITED
NATIONS" in five lines. Ribbon: Nine blue and eight white stripes. |
