Pictures of Kuching 1966

 Contributed by Dave Martin
651 Signal Troop, Kuching, Sarawak

In 1966, when the confrontation with Indonesia was coming to a conclusion, Auster aircraft dropped these leaflets in the jungle to assist the enemy in 'giving themselves up'. There are two sides to the document, the obverse is written entirely in Chinese. As a sidenote, on Christmas day 1966 the Auster, which had a large loudspeaker onboard for broadcasting propaganda to the enemy, flew over Kuching and the surrounding area playing Christmas Carols. A touch of home in a far away land!
