Gooly chit
213 Squadron RAF Deversoir in Egypt 1954

Contributed by
Ralph Swift aka "Speedy"

This is just a part of the famous "Gooly Chit" carried by all pilots in case of an emergency landing or bale out. The original is translated into 12 different Middle East languages and was supposedly to try and persuade the
locals not to stuff your private parts into your mouth and send you back to base that way. This "chitty" was meant to convince them that they would be better off sending you back intact. I am not sure that carrying it really
convinced me that it would change their minds and I am glad I never had to put it's persuasiveness to the test.
