Cyprus Driving Permit from 1957

Contributed by Vic Freeman

This permit was issued as the emergency progressed and had to be obtained in addition to a
Driving Licence.  Time fogs memory, but my recollection is that British and certain foreign nationals were permitted to drive anywhere at any time providing a curfew was not in force.  Turkish Cypriots were permitted  the same.  Greek Cypriots were then graded by age and occupation to a varying radius of their homes,  the lowest grade  being about five miles for under twenty fives (ish).  Someone may have a more accurate recollection.
