Pucara 533 cockpit

| The
cockpit is from 533 which was the aircraft that came back from a raid (21st
May methinks) with 58 bullet
strikes in the fuselage and 4 in the left engine. Took em till 14th June to mend it ready for one last raid on the 15th....as they say, the rest is history! |

It came over to UK on Contender Bezant (which became RFA Argus after huge mods after the war). Was flown to Boscombe Down under a Chinook (last flew under a Chinook ZA718 in Falklands to container ship). Was used for spares to keep the test aircraft flying. Went to Middle Wallop Museum of AF, where it was scrapped (incredulous I know!) in 1997 or 8.
She
is resident at the Boscombe Down museum and will also be part of a display
at Newark Air Museum as part of the Cockpit Festival June 15/16th this
year. We are putting on a 20th Anniv display with various cockpit relics.
Open day 29th June and at Newark 14/15th June as part of Cockpit festival.
