2nd Guards Brigade Patch
Contributed by George Tullis This Patch was proudly worn by all ranks of the 2nd Guards Bdge and all vehicles on the front and rear. The 2nd Guards Bdge consisted of the 3rd Battalion Grenadier Guards, 2nd Coldstream Guards, 2nd Scots Guards also the ancillary units such as the REME Brigade Workshops No3 Company RASC (General Transport) 16th Field Ambulance RAMC & RASC Field Squadron Royal Engineers Royal Signals. During 1950 when the Guards Regiments started to return to the UK the Patch was given an all Red back ground and renamed the 18th Infantry Brigade. This then consisted of the 1st Suffolk Regiment, 1st Royal West Kent's, 1st Worcester Regiment followed by the 1st Hampshire Regiment and no doubt may more One small correction it is that they were not the Malayan Guards. It was the Patch worn by the Guards Brigade whilst serving in Malaya. It was the First Time that any soldiers from the Queens Household Division(They usually guard the Royal Palaces, though they are highly trained infantry soldiers)had be ever been sent to the Far East |
