Extract from the Sunday Mail 5th March 1950
Malaya 1948-50

Contributed by George Tullis

It is a extract from the UK Sunday Mail of the 5th March 1950. This extract only came to the surface last year when a old army comrade(Roy South) of that time was looking through some old photographs belong to his mother (long gone) and was most surprised to find the paper cutting. His mother had never told him about ,it but it must have been a great worry to her because both him and his brother were in Malaya at that time. Cpl F Hand died of his wounds on the 5th March 1950 and was buried in the same cemetery (Batu Gajah) as the others. Last year I talked to L/Cpl J White who survived and is well. With regards to Dvr F Stonier I have talked to his young sister who gave me his address but so far I have had no reply.
