As a 5 year old I went on this ship from Southampton to Port Said in January 1954 with my Mother to join up with my Father (REME) who was already there.
We came back on the Georgic when the Suez crisis started and I have a postcard of that ship.

He joined the army (RAOC later REME) as a boy soldier in 1936
serving through WW2 with subsequent postings to Edgypt 1945-7 and 1951-5
followed by two postings in Germany retiring as a W01 in 1962.

Post card of MV Georgic on which we all returned in 1955 due to the Suez crisis.
