ZACH, Andreas (He was captured by a Royal Leicestershire Regiment patrol in Akhna on 28.02.57. He was one of a seven-member Eoka gang. Pte Philip Barker, 22, said: 'We found two of them in a room of a house, one was under the bed. We brought them both out, together with the man who had given the first warning of our approach. Three others had surrendered utside without a shot being fired')
ZACHARIA, Efstathios (Born Peyia in 1933, he became an Eoka driver for a hit and run unit. He was caught and interned.)
ZACHARIA, Louizou. Code-name: Kolokolotronis. (He came from Polemi village and joined the Lysos gang that was famed for its road ambushes. Lysos was the first village in the Paphos district to raise and organize an Eoka group.)
ZACHARIOU, Adonis (He was from Kalo Chorion, and died 07.01.2007, aged 77 years. He was a failed arms courier between Athens/Limassol, under direction of AZINAS. He travelled to Athens, but could not find an arms supplier. In his latter years, he worked on the Lanitis citrus farm. He was 5 ft short in height.)
ZAHARIA, Panayiotis. (Born 1913 in Avgorou, he was killed 05.07.58. As a farm feed supplier, he provided transport and food for Eoka members in his area.
ZAKOS, Andreas (Born on 12 November 1931, in the village of Linou, a Nicosia suburb, Zakos was brought up in Lefka. He was employed at Cyprus Metallurgical Works, but when the conflict broke out, he joined EOKA. On 15 December 1955, as part of the Markos DRAKOS's gang, he was involved in the ambush of Royal Engineers Major, Brian COOMBE, whose driver was killed in the incident for an ambush against a British detachment, led by Major B.J. Coombe, near ancient Soloi. In the ensuing battle, Zakos was injured and captured singlehandedly by the officer. Zakos was executed on 9 August 1956, with his friend Michael CHARILAOS, (also arrested at Soloi, and Iakovos PATATSOS (caught in a separate incident.)
ZAKOS, Stavros (Born 1928, He operated in the Trikomo/Iskele, Famagusta/District. He worked as a clerk for the British Army.)
ZANOU, Savvas. (Born 1922 in Lefkoniko/Gecitkale, he was killed 06.10.58 after failing in a hit and run operation. He was a mechanic by trade.)
ZAVLIS, Charalambous (Born Saranti in 1920, he was a blacksmith who joined a hit and run gang. He was arrested, interned and survived the conflict.)
ZENONOS, Theodoros. (Born 1937 in Choletra Paphos, he was killed 30.07.58 when a bomb he threw bounced back and exploded.)
ZENOPAULAS, George. (Members of 1 R Leicesters, after a gun battle near Lysi on 10.02.57, captured him and five others. The seventh terrorist, Paraulos KOKKINOS, was shot dead. The survivors received long jail terms. The Leicester patrol was led by Cpl T W JAMES.)
ZENTILI, Pieri (From Famagusta, he died 24.08.05, aged 78 He was a policeman and belonged to an Eoka execution squad in the Kyrenia/Girne area.
ZIARTIDES, Andreas (The Secretary General of the left wing PEO union, he was an AKEL stalwart, who walked a dangerous line between Eoka and the Communists.)
