This story of the despatchers remarkable escape is only a minute part of the rescue, there were a lot of other service personnel who were involved, possibly on reading this it is hoped that they may include their part, I asked Alfie Downes who at the time was living in Florida did he know why the aircraft failed, he told me that he heared that it was caused by a racing engine that could not be feathered, this story is only from one of the crew, and I would hope that if read by the others, Ernie Roe, Alfie Downes, Lenny Moore that they too will include their part in it.
