1: This shows the old children's play area at the top of Penang Hill, also known as Bukit Bendera. The playground has now gone and the area is occupied by several makan(food) and souvenir stalls. |
2: This shows the Strawberry Hill Tea Kiosk. This is a well known landmark on Penang Hill and is still there. The place got its name because of the strawberries that were grown here during the early days of the colony. It was always good to sit in the garden area of this Kiosk and take in the views of Georgetown below whilst sipping a cool bevy! |

| A contributor writes: The Top Station of this railway stands at about 2400 feet above sea level. In the late sixties, when I was posted here, I worked at a radar station on Western Hill, about 5 Kms from the Top Station. So, it was almost a daily trog up the hill by this railway to get to work! |

I have been reliably informed that the crashed Mosquito aircraft, shown below, was at R.A.F. Labuan, and was the result of a collapsed undercarriage on landing due to the aircraft striking a 20ft high obstacle off the end of the runway. (believed monument in a Cemetery.)
The Mosquito was almost certainly a PR 34. PF672, of 81 Sqn. Apparently there were no casualties. |
