Now living In Dursley Gloucestershire.

Joined the Hampshire Regiment in 1949 for his national service, transferred to the Devonshire Regiment 1st Battalion in the Malayan Emergency 1950

My Father served his national service in 1949 / 1950 and was sent to Malaya. He was shot in the back, the bullet went through his stomach, but luckily he survived.
He has just lent me the only photographs he has left, due to someone stealing his kit bag on the way home way back then! He joined the Royal Hampshire regiment and transferred to the Devonshire regiment.

John also wrote a poem while out in Malaya, On Patrol
