Colonel Denys Whatmore was
a raw National Service Second Lieutenant when he was posted to Korea with
the Glosters. By the time he left, he had been part of one of the most
amazing episodes of the Korean war - the escape from Imjin river. READ

Excellent
At sixteen years of age, the author and I were in the same class at school. Just two years later he was a young officer in the Glosters looking across the Imjim river preparing for battle. After a few days of bitter fighting the battalion had exhausted their ammunition and food supplies. Although surrounded, he and others escaped. A month later the enemy were driven back and he returned to Gloster Hill to identify and bury his dead comrades. A gruesome episode.
A true account of an astonishing historical battle told by a National Serviceman who, later, rejoined the army because he knew that is where he belonged.
This book is about The Glosters, a proud regiment full of men like Dennys Whatmore. You have got to read it.
