Cover Notes

Maybe they thought we were sleeping.

Maybe they thought we were playing games.

The last thing that would have crossed their minds was that we were a search and destroy team from the Special Air Service come to wreak havoc behind their lines.

I heard my heart beating in my ear, felt a thin sheen of sweat beneath my trigger-finger I followed the guy's eyes as he reached the net. He was now no more than three feet away.

With the outbreak of Gulf War hostilities SABRE SQUADRON slipped quietly over the border into the enemy's backyard. It would be six weeks before any of the patrol again reached safety.

SABRE SQUADRON will take you as close to the fighting SAS as you will ever get. It recounts in graphic detail their scud-busting operations behind enemy lines.

Atrocious conditions, unreliable intelligence and the threat of enemy compromise all conspired against success, yet failure could have meant the collapse of the allied coalition. The patrol ended as one of the most remarkable in the SAS's history: a classic work out'.

This is real-life adventure: the true story of an SAS operation of breathtaking daring and ingenuity, against impossible odds.

RIKKI wrote
A realistic account of the longest SAS mission behind Iraqi lines during the Gulf war, There are some who will disagree with the authors exact recollection of events especially the replacemant of the senior officer of the mission, however it is a thrilling account of how war changes careful planning into "make do and mend".

Sheenagh rated this book Excellent
An excellent book with graphic detail of life with the SAS behind the Iraqi lines during the Gulf War. Thw writer manages to keep you interested, though some of the details do bring home the full horrors of the situation. Read in conjunction with the other Gulf War books of McNab and Ryan it creates an exciting over view of the Gulf War from the SAS point of view. Well wotrh the read!
