Cover Notes

The Falklands War of 1982 was one of the most significant armed campaigns to be fought since the end of the Second World War. Although much is known about how the war was fought, little has been revealed about what really happened behind the scenes. The Secret War for the Falklands is the hitherto undisclosed story of how the Argentines planned the invasion, and why the massive amphibious attack took the British Government by surprise. Based on previously classified documents and interviews with international intelligence personnel, Nigel West has reconstructed the astonishing events that led up to the conflict. Why was the Sheffield sunk? Who tapped the telephones of the Argentine mission to the UN in New York? Who were the people in the Current Intelligence Group who knew the real odds against success? And how did the SAS launch a clandestine raid, codenamed MIKADO, on an Exocet base in Tierra del Fuego?

Reviews

Peregrine  Harmsworth rated this book It's already in the bin
I would not trust anything written by West to be true. Described as a conniving little shit by Private Eye - and a liar by a recent high court judge.  He sets himslef up as the authority on secret wars and associated subjects but little of what he has to say should be taken as fact.  This, like many of his books, is written to satisfy his ego and not to further our knowledge of the war
