It's nearly sixty years since Ian Tedford and I bumped into each other at Dreghorn Barracks, Edinburgh, then the Lowland Brigade Training Centre managed by 1st Bn The Royal Scots. I have only this morning obtained a copy of Maurice Tugwell's book and have read Ian's hair-raising contribution. There can be few, if any accounts of ambush and survival to match his experience and that of Charles Morgan. I look forward to reading the following chapters of post-war action.

I participated in the incident of 7/7/1952 related by Ian Tedford,"Taking a Chance" and can verify its accuracy as a personal account of the actual event. I have never been altogether happy in our loss of weapons whilst on a personal escapade ; a postscript on the killing of Goh Peng Tun in 1956, with the recovery of Tedford's carbine could be a redeeming factor.
